Ad:tech is coming to San Francisco April 15th-17th , affording our local advertising community an opportunity to see the latest advancements in advertising technology, first hand. Shows like these not only provide a preview of things to come but also an opportunity to bring back to our clients some cutting edge ideas that will truly take their campaigns to the next level.
Some of the companies I'm excited to see on the show floor will help us to do things in better, more efficient ways or even completely change our perspective. Of particular interest to us here at Placecast is the increasing focus on solving the local advertising problem online. It is exciting to see exhibiting companies like lat49, local.com, Marchex and Zvents all leveraging different technologies and approaches to serve local merchants or local outlets of national advertisers.
In addition, developments like the iPhone, Google’s plans to play in that space and recent acquisitions within the location based services industry are changing the landscape of where advertising can be most effective. The fact that the inventory this affects is such a significant part of people’s lives is compelling. How advertising needs to change to deliver relevant messages that can more dramatically affect consumer behavior should be on display on the show floor.
At Placecast, for the last three years we have been building and refining the world’s first place-based ad solution to bring real-world relevance to online ad campaigns while preserving user privacy. As with many of the companies exhibiting at the show, countless hours of development, highs and lows, major victories and minor defeats have gone into getting us to this point. It‘s an exciting time in advertising with new companies, technologies, strategies and inventory being created each day. Now it’s up to all of us in the advertising community to make use of these new technologies and approaches to get the best results for our clients.
